HARDIN CO.— Hardin County authorities are reporting that Sheriff JT Fricker is on his way to the scene of what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Details are scant at this time, but authorities are reporting an unnamed 34-year-old has accidentally shot himself in the lower left leg.
A nurse practitioner is also on the way to the scene of the shooting, which is said to be at a house way back in the woods according to those working the scene.
“The round is believed to have hit an artery,” the source said. “Our ambulance is in Evansville so Sheriff Fricker is looking to load the victim in a squad car and meet up with an ambulance en-route.”
The ambulance Fricker is struggling to meet is having to come from Golconda in Pope County.
“Does us a lot of good to have our ambulance in Evansville,” said a very unhappy Sheriff Fricker.
Sources indicate Pope County Ambulance Service has been placed on standby.
