WHITE CO., Ill.—A Hamilton County case was carried out this morning in neighboring White County, wherein the accused entered a plea of guilty to one of multiple charges of drunk driving…an act which lead to a crash that killed members of his family.
Darrell G. Delong, 50, of Collinsville, entered a plea to Count 1 (Aggravated DUI causing an accident/death) of the six-count charge Hamilton County State’s Attorney Justin Hood filed last November against DeLong, the charges following a terrible traffic crash on Anderson School Road in Hamilton. Killed in the crash were Robert L. Parker, age 49, of Collinsville; Lori S. Parker, age 42, of Collinsville; Tammy A. Delong, age 35, of Collinsville; and Diana N. Wright, age 23, of McLeansboro; a 16-year-old juvenile passenger from Collinsville died not long after the crash.
White County authorities this morning told Disclosure that Delong, upon deciding to enter the plea, opted to do so in White County since the judge in the case was scheduled to be there today, and since Delong has been being held in White County’s lockup for Hamilton, who has to send their detainees out to other jail facilities.
Delong will remain at white County until his sentencing, scheduled for August 19.
