WHITE CO. Ill.— A Carmi woman has been transported to an Evansville, Ind. hospital after a single vehicle crash this morning (Sunday, July 6).
According to authorities a red 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by 32-year-old Kathleen Ann James, was northbound on Ill. Rte. 1, at at 6:41 a.m., at the intersection of Commerce Street in Grayville, when the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a large tree head on.
James, who told authorities she had fallen asleep, was transported by Air Evac to Evansville for treatment of her injuries.
The Pontiac was towed from the scene by Rick’s Towing of Harrisburg, Ill.
The Illinois State Police were assisted at the crash scene by the Edwards County Sheriff’s Department, Edwards County Emergency personnel, Air Evac and Rick’s towing.
No citations have been issued at this time as a result of the crash.
Authorities did not say whether or not James had been wearing her seatbelt when her car left the roadway.
