CHICAGO— It appears as though Governor Pat Quinn’s administration has taken another hit on questionable hiring practices.
Recent reports indicate that Mike Woods, deputy director of Finance and Administration for the Illinois Department of Transportation has resigned effective today, (Wednesday, July 3).
The resignation comes only days after the agency’s transportation secretary came under fire and was faced with a barrage of questions concerning hiring practices.
Woods, 32, is a former agency personnel chief and is just the latest casualty of the Quinn administration.
This comes on the heels of Quinn spokesperson Grant Klinzman announcing that an expiring contract for the governor’s legislative liaison, Gary Hannig, 61, will not be renewed.
Hannig was a longtime member of the Illinois House and Department of Transportation secretary from 2009-2011.
Quinn also replaced IDOT secretary Ann Schneider earlier this week.
Department of Transportation hiring practices have been questioned recently with one anti-patronage campaigner calling on a federal judge to order an investigation into IDOT activities.
There have also been a barrage of unanswered questions concerning Quinn’s appointment to the Illinois Prison Review Board.
