CASE RESOLVED IN LAWRENCE COUNTY, BUT IT HAS ITS WEIRD ASPECTS….

And when we say “resolved,” we’re using the term in the loosest way possible.

That’s because there came to be discovered a very distinct quirk in the case of one of the parents of the baby with the fractured skull, that case dating back to late January of this year.

And because of the quirk with one of the parents, the situation with the other parent didn’t pan out so well as regards a law enforcement/justice aspect.

LAWRENCE CO.—Criminal charges against members of two families hemmed up earlier this year are in somewhat of a limbo status as other entities are giving input into various aspects of the multiple alleged crimes.

The cases, involving two families, the Armes and Choates, in Sumner, date back to an incident in late January that resulted in multiple arrests.

The circumstances sprang from when Joseph C. Armes, 22, and Ashley Brotherton Armes, 23, brought their then-three-month-old baby boy to Lawrence Memorial Hospital on January 30, because he was “unresponsive.” It was learned that the baby boy had suffered a skull fracture, this after his father had reported that he’d thrown the baby on the couples’ bed and he had bounced off, striking his head on a hard object (either a chest of drawers, a TV stand, or both), resulting in the serious injury.

A further examination of the baby showed that despite his very young age, he had what was called “old injuries” including broken ribs, these dating back to possibly just ten days prior, when another incident of alleged abuse as perpetrated by the….
