JACKSON CO., Ill.—A former Murphysboro couple have been charged in Jackson County with sex crimes against their own children.

Robert Pleasant, 36, and his wife Bethany, 25, have each been charged with molesting his two biological children and a child belonging to Robert’s ex-girlfriend.
How and why the two had access to an ex’s kids haven’t been explained in any media or police reports.

The two were arrested at a residence in Wolf Lake, Illinois (Union County) last night (Wednesday, June 18) and charged with the following Jackson County charges: Robert with two counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, and Bethany with one count of same as well as a count of Criminal Sexual Assault.
The children were not with them, but the ex’s child has been living in Michigan; Michigan authorities have been involved in the case, along with Illinois DCFS and Jackson and Union county authorities, as well as Illinois State Police.
The two are in custody in Jackson County currently, being held on a million-dollar bail ($100,000 cash bond).
