HARRISBURG—If the feds have anything to say about anything going on in Harrisburg, they’ll probably start with city worker Ray Brown.
Brown had the misfortune to have been injured last night (03.20.12) when the tip end of a piece of heavy equipment (we’re working on what kind it was exactly, but we’re hearing it was a backhoe or endloader) fell on him, resulting in crushing injuries to his head and upper body.
Our source on the subject, someone who’s close to Brown, told us “He was working alone and apparently was lying there unbeknownst to anyone for quite awhile.”
At the time, it was touch and go as to whether Brown would make it at all….but now it appears he’s been stabilized, although the extent of the damage is unknown…and could be severe.
Brown and his wife Lacey owned the trucking/landscaping place (Stix & Stones) in Eldorado, and our sources state that he is a SUPER nice guy…always working. But those close to Brown believed the accident happened because he liked to work alone and did too many things by himself just to “get them done.”
There was also an unconfirmed report that Brown may have been drinking at the time of the accident. The city has reportedly been worried to hear back if alcohol was present, because “FEMA/OSHA/etc will go ape shit over the post-tornado cleanup now,” our source told us this evening.
More on it as it develops…keep the Brown family in your thoughts and prayers, as well as those of Eric Gregg.
