FRANKLIN CO.—We just received word that judicial candidate for the Second Circuit on the Dem ticket, Kent Renshaw, who was declared the winner of the Primary last night, may not have won after all.
According to Franklin County, several absentee ballots, which “came in late” in the counting process, pushed Eric Dirnbeck over Renshaw by probably about 60 votes circuit-wide, meaning Dirnbeck is the Dem’s candidate for at-large judge in the circuit this fall.
Franklin has reported a total of:
2,297, Dirnbeck
642, Swofford
509, Newcomb
371, Parrish
886, Renshaw
Franklin is one of the most active voting counties in the circuit, and is one of the most densely populated. Their tallies often make or break the contests. We’ll be calling the other counties this morning getting all the vote totals, and try to bring them to you throughout the day; however, today of all days,we’re both in Franklin (West Frankfort) as Ang has a big book signing there at the Historical Society building…so come on out, get a book, have it signed, and chat with us if you’d like!
