JACKSON CO., Ill. — Three arrests have been announced by the Carbondale Police Department, all in connection to a shooting that occurred on Friday.
The shooting occurred at approximately 12:30AM in the 500 block of South Illinois Avenue. The shooting took place during quite a bit of pandemonium, as someone had sprayed a crowd of around 200 people with pepper spray. Several fights also broke out during the mayhem.
The man who was shot was hit in the abdomen by the bullet, and was transported to Memorial Hospital in Carbondale for treatment of what authorities were calling a “non-life threatening injury,” but which Disclosure learned via sources close to the injured man was a very serious gunshot wound to the abdomen: those sources said that had the bullet gone a half-inch further, it would have pierced the descending aorta and he would have died in minutes.
This is different than the account Carbondale police were giving Friday when they were advising media that the “weapon” fired had been a BB gun.
As a result of the shooting, three male suspects have been apprehended. Darrion D. Jake of Cape Girardeau, and Ternell Albritton and Robert E. Glass, both of Carbondale, were all arrested by Friday evening.
All three are being currently being held at the Jackson County Jail, and have all been charged with Mob Action. Additionally, Jake has been charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone who has information on the incident is asked to call Carbondale Police Department at 618-457-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 618-549-2677.
