CROSSVILLE–Last night (April 10, 2014) a little before 7 p.m., a man fled from a vehicle in the village of Crossville in White County.
Sheriff Doug Maier said that the incident began after a vehicle driven by Tabitha Speele was pulled over in a traffic stop. She was essentially issued a citation, Maier said. Besides Speele, four passengers were in her vehicle…and one of the passengers was a male who gave a fake name to the arresting officer, then at that point, bolted from the car and took off on foot.
The chase went on for about an hour and a half to two hours, Maier said. Involved on the law enforcement part of it were a Grayville officer, two from the White County Sheriff’s Department, including Maier, a Carmi police officer and a K-9 unit were trying to have the canine search the male’s scent.
The male already had a warrant for his arrest, and now has another warrant for fleeing.
Law enforcement is currently tracking the male down and is not giving his name until he is found.
Keep checking back for updates on the situation.
