LAWRENCE CO.–According to the unit 20 school district the Lawrenceville High School is currently on a soft lockdown.
The soft lockdown started at approximately 10:45 a.m. this morning (April 11, 2014). A soft lockdown means that no one is allowed to leave the school building.
A call was made by our staff to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and dispatch said that all calls made about the lockdown were being directed to the Lawrenceville high school. An investigation is currently going on, but the school will not say why there is a lockdown. However, social networking sites are saying that it was because the school received an unspecified threat, and the school opted to err on the side of safety.
Law enforcement was on scene earlier at the school, but is not currently there now.
Keep checking back for updates on the situation as we receive them.
