LAWRENCE CO., Ill.—Lawrence County’s prosecutor is going to be off the court schedule for awhile as he’s been scheduled to have open heart surgery this coming Monday.
Chris Quick, who was elected county prosecutor in 2012 defeating incumbent Lisa Wade, announced today that he will be hospitalized for open heart bypass surgery this coming Monday, April 7, 2014, in Evansville.
“I went for a routine physical,” Quick said in a press release, “and it was discovered after a ‘stress test’ that I have two coronary arteries that have blockages. The blocks are approximately 80 percent and located in places that cannot be stinted by the doctor, so surgery was recommended. I have not had any heart damage and I feel fine, but the doctor recommended that I do the bypass now to avoid future complications.”
Quick said he will be out of the office for four weeks.
“During this time, the assistant state’s attorney, Michael Strange, will be handling my case load and things will continue as usual. In addition, my very capable administrative assistants, Lori Stultz, Yvonne Brandebourg and victim coordinator Lori Dakuras, will continue to be available to answer questions for the public and take care of the day to day mechanics of running the office.
“One never knows what lies ahead,” Quick said in the press release, “but if all things go as planned, I will return to the office on Monday, May 5. On a personal note and as a committed Christian, I would please ask for the prayers of the people of Lawrence County.”
Disclosure staff recently spoke with Quick on Wednesday of this week and he seemed in good spirits. Please be thinking of him next Monday and throughout his recovery.
