CRAWFORD CO., Ill.—Jared Carter has been sentenced to serve an additional 11 years behind bars for his walk away escape from the grounds of Robinson Correctional Center on August 30, 2013.
Prior to this incident, Carter had a history of good behavior during his incarceration and had clearance to be part of a work crew on prison grounds outside the walls of the facility.
Carter pleaded guilty today in a Crawford County courtroom and was sentenced to 11 years in prison (consecutive), this means in addition to the time he has remaining on his current sentence, a $1,000 fine and three years of mandatory supervised released.
“I want to thank the Crawford County States Attorney’s Office for quickly moving forward with the prosecution of this offender,” said IDOC Director, S.A. Godinez. “It is a powerful reminder to those in our system that we will work to prosecute those who break the rules.”
Carter was immediately transferred to a maximum security facility after this incident where he remains incarcerated.
