HUTSONVILLE—State Representative for the 109th, Roger Eddy, “suspended his campaign” for the office in the newly-redrawn 110th district yesterday, 02.26.12, amid a swirl of discoveries that the man has been corrupt from the get-go, and has had HIGHLY questionable supporters and donations over the past several months in his most recent run for the redistricted office.
Eddy, a Republican (in name only, apparently), issued this statement yesterday at 5 p.m.:
I have devoted my entire professional life to working to improve the education of our children. From serving as a teacher, my work as a superintendent and now as a State Representative, I’ve committed myself to working to improve Illinois’ educational system. Now, a unique opportunity has been presented to me that would further my reach to improve our state’s educational system while representing one of the state’s most influential and respected education associations, the Illinois Association of School Boards. The IASB has asked me to serve as their new Executive Director beginning on July 1. While final details regarding the position have not been resolved, I do expect them to finalize soon and as a result I am suspending my campaign for State Representative effective immediately. While I regret the timing of this announcement and I know many who have worked so hard for my re-election will be disappointed, the decision to move forward with this opportunity is the right one and I am excited about the challenges that lie ahead.
Now, the truth:
Rogery Eddy, it’s been discovered, may have accepted funds from the public body of the City of Paris:
He’s been connected to SEIU, the over-the-top union that has almost single-handedly ruined Obama’s image (such as it is); used his position as school superintendent in Hutsonville to garner support for his campaign and give school board members positions within his campaign office; created a hostile environment when one of the Edgar County Watchdogs, John Kraft, appeared to merely videotape a school board meeting; and has been double-dipping (collecting both a representative’s salary along with his school superintendent’s salary—to the tune of almost $300,000 annually) for years now.
Support for Eddy’s (former) opponent in the Primary for the seat in the 110th, Brad Halbrook, has been roaring forward, aided in part by the inimitable former gubernatorial candidate, Adam Andrzejewski, who heads up For the Good of Illinois. It’s probably eating Eddy’s lunch right about now that he gave up his seat (or will be, as of July) and won’t be seeking another term, even though he got the cushy taxpayer-supported job that he did (just a cover….you all know that, though). Eddy went on the record here a couple of months ago blasting Andrzejewski (he can’t even spell Adam A’s name right…and this man has degrees in education?) and calling him a “Chicago millionaire” like that’s a bad thing….hell, he’s at least a self-made millionaire, and he didn’t do any of it at the expense of the taxpayer….something Eddy will likely never be able to comprehend.
So Eddy’s removal of himself from the race is not only a breath of fresh air for real Republicans in downstate Illinois…..it’s a victory for those who value the truth over deception. Eddy has been deceiving the taxpayers, probably for decades. And unfortunately for Illinois, we have far too many of his ilk in office…and far too few Andrzejewskis, Watchdogs and Disclosures to expose them all….but we’re trying.
