RICHLAND CO., Ill.—Richland County’s/Olney’s perpetual candidate, Brian James O’Neill II (deux, junior, the second, et al), more than doubled his usual 11 votes in yesterday’s election.
And we reiterate our stance that anyone who’s stupid enough to cast a ballot for him, even in jest, doesn’t need to be voting.
O’Neill clogs up the system every two years and pretty much has for decades, in his warped mind believing that he can attain public office and better things for “everyone.” Of course, all his platforms benefit only himself, as he promotes himself as “disabled” (he does get a disability check, but only because of the prescription medication he takes; his problem isn’t that he’s really disabled in any way, but that he’s just evil and largely stupid), and all his runs for office, be it county board, mayor, city council, sheriff, whathaveyou, springboard from “fair treatment for everyone”…a good premise, except that “everyone” ends up being O’NEILL. So this egocentric, sexually perverse, non-bathing reject of society, already soaking up our tax dollars with everything in his life being subsidized, runs each election in Richland into costly figures with his BS election bids…and anytime he’s perceived someone has slighted him, he files a lawsuit against that entity, such as this one and this one, lawsuits that have been extremely expensive for the county to fight. In the meantime, O’Neill is still awaiting outcome on the misdemeanor charge he’s facing from 2012, in which he was charged with making vulgar comments, noises and gestures at two little girls out in front of his house….where he tells people he has a “sex dungeon” in his basement.
Anyway, the numbers last night were the story: O’Neill received 27 votes from county smartasses, who took those votes away from the real Dem candidate for sheriff, Ronald Kruger, who received only 272 votes. Most Richland Countians—us included—pulled a Republican ballot so we could give our gubernatorial candidate of choice a boost, since we already knew the brain-dead in Illinois would vote for Pat Quinn. the Republican candidate for sheriff—and the incumbent—Andy Hires’ vote tally reflected that, with 1,050 votes cast.
In total, it was an absolutely horrible Primary turnout for Richland. The percentage of turnout was one of the lowest we’ve chronicled this far: 13.59. However, it’s the totality of numbers that are staggering. The 2010 census showed there were 16,233 people living in Richland. There are an estimated 12,569 people of voting age living in Richland according to stats from the same census. Of those numbers, 11,417 are registered to vote. Of those 11,417, only 1,552 voted.
When it gets down to it this fall, do you want your sheriff selected by a little more than a thousand votes, in a county with a census of more than 16,000?
Get out the vote, people. This kind of thing reflects badly on us ALL.
