An Elgin man serving time on a domestic battery charge was sentenced Monday to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a woman who interrupted an attack on a 10-year-old girl, prosecutors said.
Jesus E. Hernadez, 40, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual assault and agreed to the 16-year sentence, according to Kane County prosecutors.
The night of May 17, 2012, Hernandez had invited the woman over to his Elgin home for pizza and she brought along five children, all either her children or her cousins, according to police and prosecutors. Late that night, Hernandez invited the group to stay at his home, and all of them went to sleep in the home’s one bedroom except the 10-year-old girl, according to a release from the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
