SALINE CO.—While traveling all over Jackson, Williamson and Saline counties today, we’ve heard from one end to the other that Todd Fort, released today (Feb. 17, 2012), is having a hard time finding a place to live.
Fort, former Saline County chief deputy who fell from grace in July 2010 when he was arrested and charged with multiple counts of Criminal Sexual Assault and Official Misconduct, concluded his “three-year” sentence today, being discharged from Graham Correctional Center because it’s DOC’s policy to discharge a releasee early if his official discharge date falls on a holiday. Since Monday is President’s Day, DOC let him out today, being the nearest regular business day to that holiday.
But apparently, he has limited places to go.
We’ve heard that he might be staying in his late mother’s house. We’ve heard he might be staying at his sister Cindy Palmer’s house. We’ve also heard he CAN’T stay at Cindy’s place because it’s too close to a school or park…and Fort is a registered sex offender.
As of right now, he’s not registered as an offender anywhere outside of DOC. In fact, both ISP’s sex offender registry website AND Illinois Department of Corrections has Todd still in DOC. But we’ve had entirely too many reliable sources—many of them public officials—telling us he’s out, so that’s what we’re going with.
So if any of you know where he is, feel free to post it here. Many bets are on that Fort will have a good-paying, well-placed job within a month. We don’t think so. Maybe later, like within the year. But for right now, what we’re hearing is that he’s persona non grata, so the job might not be a reality any time soon. Let us know what you think, though.
