Deadly vice grips, knuckles and a poser charged in White

WHITE CO.—Levi A. Williams, 22, of 1098 US Hwy 45, Enfield, has been charged with Criminal Damage to Property.

Authorities say on December 21, 2013, Williams knowingly damaged property belonging to Maxine Grimwood, being a house located at 607 Davenport, Crossville, said damage was in excess of $300 and not more than $10,000.

A cash bond has been set in the amount of $2,500.

In June 2013 Williams was convicted of Battery/ Causing Bodily Harm and was sentenced to two years court supervision, 25 hours of public service and ordered to pay $593 in fines and fees of which he still owes $163.

 

Gets 90 days for knuckles and paraphernalia

A Carmi man has been charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Use of Weapons and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis.

Police say on February 4, Nicholas Andrew Talley, 26, of 716 Burrell St., Carmi, knowingly possessed less than five grams of methamphetamine or a substance containing methamphetamine and possessed brass knuckles.

Police also say, Talley possessed a metal pipe with suspected cannabis, an item of drug paraphernalia, with the intent to use the mental pipe in inhaling cannabis into his body and less than 2.5 grams of a substance containing cannabis.

On the same day, Talley was convicted of the charge of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Use of Weapons and was sentenced to 90 days in jail, two years of probation, two years of conditional discharge and ordered to pay $1,897 in fines and fees.

A review court hearing has been set for March 27 at 1 p.m.

 

Vice grips as a deadly weapon

A Mt. Vernon man has been charged with Aggravated Battery and Theft.

Police say on January 3, Seneca Lavar Powe, 30, of 700 S. 17th St., Mt. Vernon, knowingly used a pair of vice grip pliers, a deadly weapon other than by discharge of a firearm, in that Powe struck Paul M. Smith above the right eye and knowingly exerted unauthorized control over property of Smith, having a total value not exceeding $300 in value, intending to deprive Smith permanently of the use of the property.

Cash bond has been set in the amount of $2,500.

 

Pretending for drugs

Crystal Gail Napier, 36, of 1359 County Rd. 1700 N., Carmi, has been charged with False Personation.

Authorities say on December 27, 2013, Napier knowingly and falsely represented herself to be a staff member of Dr. Patrick Stewart’s office of Effingham, and gave authorization to Wal-Mart Pharmacy of Carmi, to fill a prescription for a Lee J. Holloman over the telephone, in an attempt to obtain a prescription for Holloman.

Napier was released from custody on Jan. 29, after she posted a $150 cash bond on her own behalf.

A first appearance court hearing has been set for March 6 at 9 a.m.
