WABASH CO.—In the heavier crim docket for the past month in Wabash County, violence, meth and alleged DUI all have gained prominence and are being handled with applicable charges or sentencing.
The docket starts out with Eric R. Hutchcraft, 27, of 113 S. Mulberry St., Mt. Carmel, who has been charged with Aggravated Battery.
Authorities say on November 19, 2013, Hutchcraft, in committing a battery, knowingly caused great bodily harm to Timothy Pierce, in that he fractured Pierce’s jaw.
A cash bond was set in the amount of $1,000.
A first appearance was scheduled for February 24 at 9 a.m.
Kentucky woman sentenced to 5 years in DOC
A Kentucky woman has been sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (DOC) after being convicted of Aggravated Manufacture of Methamphetamine.
Police say on December 19, 2013, Emily C. Wolfenbarger, 22, of 2254 Highway 42 West, Carrolton, Ky., knowingly and without legal justification made physical contact of an insulting nature with Lynette Henze, when she knew Henze to be a correctional institution employee performing her official duties, when she struck Henze in the face with her hand earning herself one count of Aggravated Battery.
On Feb. 4, Wolfenbarger’s battery charge was dismissed and she was convicted on an amended charge of Aggravated Meth Manufacturing less than 15 grams in an Apartment, she was charged with in November 2013, being Unlawful Possession of Meth Precursor less than 10 grams.
In addition to her prison time, Wolfenbarger was to pay $2,007 of which she has paid nothing.
Pills
Richard C. Eblen, 55, of 11113 N. 1900 Blvd., Mt. Carmel, has been charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance.
Police say on Feb. 2, Eblen knowingly and unlawfully had in his possession less than five grams of a substance containing methamphetamine and three clonazepam tablets, a controlled substance.
A cash bond has been set in the amount of $1,000.
In January 2005, Eblen was convicted of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (prescription medication) and sentenced to 24 months probation, 30 hours of public service and ordered to pay $3,325 in fines and fees.
In May 2008, Eblen was convicted of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and sentenced to 60 days in jail, four years probation and ordered to pay $3,056 in fines and fees.
A preliminary court hearing was set for Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m.
Repeat DUI convict
An Albion man has been charged with Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol and Unlawful Driving While Driver’s License is Revoked.
Authorities say on Feb. 3, Kevin K. Yokel, 33, of Albion, knowingly drove a 1992 black Chevrolet S-10 on a highway, being the 100 block of North Market Street, Mt. Carmel, while he was under the influence of alcohol and at a time when his driver’s license was revoked for driving under the influence on Feb. 19, 2001.
Yokel was convicted in September 2004 of Battery Causing Bodily Harm and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (prescription medication).
He was sentenced to 180 days home confinement, four years of probation, ordered to attend drug treatment and pay $2,146 in fines and fees.
In Dec. 2005, Yokel was sent to DOC for three years after he was convicted of Obstructing Justice/Destroying Evidence and ordered to pay $435 in fines and fees of which he still owes $415.
Yokel was convicted again in Jan. 2009 of Driving While License Revoked and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 30 months probation, ordered to attend a special facility and pay $1,586 in fines and fees of which he still owes $1,077.
In July 2009, he was convicted of Unlawful Restraint and Domestic Battery.
Yokel was sentenced to eight years in DOC and ordered to pay $714 in fines and fees of which he still owes $534.
Prison math being what it is, Yokel was out in time to be charged and convicted of Domestic Battery and Burglary in November 2011.
He was sentenced to three years in DOC and ordered to pay $319 in fines for the domestic charge and $295 in fines and fees for the burglary charge.
Thus far he has paid nothing.
A court hearing was set for Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m.
Can’t be around minors after charged with Burglary
An Allendale woman has been charged with Burglary.
Authorities say between Dec. 13, 2013, and Jan. 31, Nancy M. Jordan, 37, of 206 S. 3rd St., Allendale, knowingly entered a building of Maxine Pemberton, located at 208 South 3rd South Street, Allendale, with the intent to commit therein a theft.
A cash bond has been set in the amount of $500, which was posted on Feb. 4.
A special condition of Jordan’s bond is that she is not to be in the presence of or upon the premises of any minors under 18 years of age, including her own children.
A preliminary court hearing has been set for Feb. 25 at 10 a.m.
Residential Burglary
Randy L. Lofton, 25, of Princeton, Ind., has been charged with Residential Burglary.
Police say on Feb. 2, Lofton knowingly, and without authority, entered into the dwelling place of Michael T. Dardeen, located at 515 West 6th Street, Mt. Carmel, with the intent to commit therein a theft.
A cash bond has been set in the amount of $4,000.
Charged with stealing cash
Daniel J. Brown, (age and address unknown), has been charged with Theft.
Police say on July 22, 2013, Brown obtained by deception control over property of Kenneth A. Cook, being US Currency, having a total value in excess of $300, but not more than $10,000, intending to deprive Cook permanently of the use of the property.
A cash bond has been set in the amount of $2,000.
Three hydros
Lisa A. Price, 45, of 221 W. 12th St., Mt. Carmel, has been charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance.
Police say on Feb. 5, Price knowingly and unlawfully had in her possession three hydrocodone tablets, a controlled substance.
On Feb. 7, Price’s cash bond was posted in the amount of $500.
A first appearance in the case was scheduled for March 3 at 9 a.m.
Soliciting children charged
Travis L. Hammond, 18, of Mt. Carmel, has been charged with Solicitation to Meet a Child.
Authorities say on Jan. 29, Hammond, a person of 18 years of age or older, while using the internet with the intent to meet a child, solicited with the child to meet without the knowledge of the child’s parents for a purpose other than a lawful purpose.
On Jan. 22, Hammond’s cash bond was posted in the amount of $300.
A first appearance court date has been set for Feb. 24 at 9 a.m.
