SALINE CO.—While the Brian Bowlby case this week in Saline County was rather low-key, the after-effects were anything but.
Case in point: Last night, after the guilty verdicts came in (and incidentally, each charge—all 19—had a guilty verdict), there were a few tense moments after family members left the courtroom.

Apparently Bowlby’s father (whose name we’re in the process of securing) made some idiotic comments to Assistant Prosecutors Eva Walker and Amanda Moore as everyone was milling around after Bowlby was lead out. The comments were of the nature of “hope you know what you’ve done; hope you rot in hell for this” and etcetera.
This was observed by court security, who proceeded to ask the two prosecutors if they felt the law needed to intervene. The ladies advised that it would probably be best if there were a security escort back over to the state’s attorney’s office across the street, and that’s what occurred. Bowlby’s father was not apprehended or charged. However, we do hear that he himself is a registered sex offender; we’re checking on that, too. But…like father, like son, apparently.
Then earlier today, Ang received a somewhat-unintelligible missive via email taking issue with the article she hastily put up yesterday after we learned of the verdict. I mention hastily because we were so pressed for time to get the information online, she didn’t mention that Bowlby had admitted to ISP on at least TWO OCCASIONS that he’d sexually molested his own daughter when she was 6 and 7 years old. On the stand, he was confronted with that; he said he failed to remember having said such a thing (although he remembered all kinds of OTHER things….just not that admission of guilt). Those confessions sealed his fate. Nevertheless, he has a fan somewhere (likely his dad), who felt that all those confessions were apparently just…something else besides confessions. I been following your Brian Bowlby column and I must say, the oppinionated statements you have published are less than professional.
With this being said, how would you like to have the proof that the victim Ashley was liing?We will be able to prove that his statements were true. Ashley wrongly accused her father because he wouldn’t buy her an automobile.The “dysfunctional” DCFS as you have put it didn’t put the seed in her head. It was her own greed that did it.She is also currently trying to sell off all her fathers possessions through 3rd parties.During all the reporting I have noticed that there has been nothing posted about how she only cried while giving testimony and that through out the trial she was all smiles and snickering while wispering to her cousin Laura. Laura herself knows that Brian Bowlby was incapable of doing these acts but, refused to testify.Thing is, Ashley is being very loose tongued in some situations now that she thinks nothing can be done. She obviously doesn’t know that this verdict and case can be revisisted no matter what the judge said. She also doesn’t know that when it comes out that she lied, she will go to prison herself for awhile.The papers have also left out for whatever reason that after the verdicts Ashley and her cousin Laura were laughing and carrying on like nothing ever happened.Whatever happened to true journalism? In the first statements you slammed Bowlby only to appear to defend him in your second column. Stay unopinoinated and neutral in your statements.

But I sure as hell didn’t hear from you or any of your crew then.
