HAMILTON COUNTY – The names of four victims in last night’s fatal traffic accident in Hamilton County have been released by District 19 Illinois State Police.
According to a press-release received this morning, a preliminary traffic crash investigation indicates that Darrell G. Delong, age 49, was the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer carrying five passengers. Delong was travelling northbound on Hamilton County Road 750E (Anderson School Road), just north of CR 1000N, when he lost control of the vehicle. The Trailblazer left the roadway and over-turned several times.
As the result of the crash, all but one passenger were ejected from the vehicle. That passenger, being the only the only passenger wearing a seatbelt, was trapped inside of the vehicle.
The driver, Darrel G. Delong and a 16-year-old juvenile passenger, both of Collinsville, were transported by Harre’s Ambulance Service to Hamilton County Memorial Hospital, and later transferred by Air Evac to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Robert L. Parker, age 49, of Collinsville; Lori S. Parker, age 42, of Collinsville; Tammy A. Delong, age 35, of Collinsville; and Diana N. Wright, age 23, of McLeansboro were all pronounced deceased at the crash scene by the Hamilton County Coroner.
The Illinois State Police were assisted at the scene by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, the McLeansboro Police Department, Harre’s Ambulance Service, the McLeansboro Fire Department, the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office, Hamilton County EMA, and J & R Towing of McLeansboro who removed the vehicle from the traffic crash scene.
The accident is still under investigation at this time.
