WHITE CO.—White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud has announced that his office has filed charges in relation to the fire that destroyed the old Grayville High School in north White County.
The fire occurred in the overnight hours of August 24, 2013, and left little standing of the historic structure, which was unoccupied. Those in the vicinity later reported to Disclosure that they had seen kids “running from the building” shortly before the fire started, but it was unclear who, if anyone, apprehended them.
Aud advised that two juveniles, both males, ages 13 and 16, have each been charged with one count of Arson, a Class 2 felony.
They are both set for a first appearance on November 4, 2013, at 1 p.m.
Aud said that because the two are juveniles, that’s all he, as an officer of the court, can release about the matter at this time.
Juvenile hearings are open to the media but closed to the public.
