FRANKLIN CO.—The body of a young woman who went missing yesterday morning at Rend Lake has been found.

According to our sources at the scene, the body of Emilie Jo Turrentine, 18, was found about an hour ago (the information came in to us at about 4 p.m.) at the lake in a rather shallow area (about 10 feet of water). The county coroner made the announcement at 3:30 p.m. that the body was that of the missing woman.
Turrentine was swimming with friends yesterday morning when shortly after 11 a.m., she went under the water and did not re-emerge. The four people she was with tried to find her immediately, and when they could not, calls were made to 911, prompting a massive response by local authorities including a dive team from Benton.
There was no foul play suspected, nor any drugs or alcohol; it was reported to us yesterday that the kids had nothing stronger out on the pontoon boat than some Gatorade in a cooler.
Franklin County, Sesser and Benton officials worked the scene beginning again at 8 a.m. this morning, Tuesday, September 3.
