
CLAY CO., Ill. - Illinois State Police have called alcohol a factor following an early-morning crash that got a Clay County woman cited today.
ISP reports that the accident occurred at 2:50 a.m. this morning, Thursday, April 25.
The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2011 Chevy Malibu being driven by Alexis B. Shock, 22 of Clay City, was traveling west on U.S 50 at Worthey Street in Flora when her vehicle traveled across the center lane marking. It continued across the eastbound lane of traffic and off the south shoulder of the roadway.
The Malibu then struck a traffic sign, drove down into a ditch, and came to rest 500 feet west of North Worthey.
Shock was transferred by Clay County Ambulance to an unnamed hospital. She was later cited for Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and DUI-Alcohol.
