WHITE CO., Ill. - A young Carmi man is off to prison after a Monday sentencing hearing on two charges: Aggravated Battery and Escape, both Class 3 felonies.
White County State's Attorney Denton Aud said that Cedrick Graham, 30, is the guy in question, and he's going to ultimately serve right at around 10 years on consecutive sentences.
Graham received a sentence on the Agg Batt of five years, and a sentence on the Escape conviction of same. They've been ordered to run consecutively by Judge T. Scott Webb, meaning when Graham is finished with the first, he'll then begin the other, something that's not done very often, as frequently, the felons are ordered to serve the sentences at the same time (concurrently), largely to cut down on prison overcrowding.
However, Graham was on bond via home detention for the Agg Batt when he committed the Escape offense, Aud clarified.
Aud added that based on an incident while authorities took Graham into custody, additional charges are likely going to be filed on Tuesday, April 16. Aud stated that more information will be released on this a bit later.
