RICHLAND CO., Ill. - A single-vehicle crash Sunday in Richland County sent two Evansville residents to an area hospital with unspecified injuries last night, Sunday, April 14...and also got them cited for various infractions that apparently lead to the accident.

Illinois State Police out of District 12 Effingham report that the accident occurred on U.S. 50, a quarter-mile east of North Midway Road in Richland County last night at 7:08 p.m.

Preliminary investigative details indicate that a silver 2013 Ford passenger car operated by Diamond L. Wright, 25 of Evansville, was traveling west on US 50 when the vehicle drove across the north fog line and onto the gravel shoulder.

Wright over-corrected when trying to bring the car back on the pavement and entered a skid in the process.

Once Wright lost control of the vehicle, the car skidded across both lanes of traffic, off the south side of the roadway, and then down into a ditch where it rolled multiple times before coming to rest.

It's difficult to tell from the accident report, but it would appear that both Wright and a passenger, Sammarvaie A. Lipson, 23, also of Evansville, were transported by Carle-Richland Memorial Hospital for treatment; however, the information included in the report doesn't indicate to which facility, nor how serious the injuries were.

However, citations for both Wright and Lipson (information doesn't indicate who received what) were Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Possession of Open Alcohol by Driver, Possession of Open Alcohol by Passenger, Illegal Usage of an Electronic Communication Device, and Failure to Wear a Seat Belt (Driver).
