CARMI, Ill. - As meth is making a comeback in southern Illinois, longer sentences for offenders are, too, as it should be.
Here's a report from White County prosecutor Denton Aud, to advises that just such a thing occurred this morning (Wednesday, April 10) in White County Circuit Court.
Charles E. Newman, 59, of Carmi, was sentenced this morning for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, a Class X felony.
As his sentence, Newman received 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by 3 years of parole.
Regular readers will recall that Newman was arrested by Carmi Police Department following the execution of a search warrant in March. He had approximately 50 grams of crystal methamphetamine with intent to distribute said methamphetamine. You can read about that arrest at this link.
