
KNOX CO., Ind. - Sunday afternoon (April 7, 2019) at approximately 4:06, Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on SR 61 south of Vincennes.
Preliminary investigation revealed the male driver of a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling southeast on SR 61 near Bierhaus Boulevard when for unknown reasons the vehicle went left of center and left the roadway on the northeast side before striking a tree.
After impact, the vehicle caught fire and was engulfed in flames. The driver was unable to escape and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Knox County Coroner.
The driver’s identity will be released when a positive identification is made.
