PALESTINE, Ill. - The Palestine Police Department investigated a complaint of a dog bite near the Palestine High School.
At approximately 12:55 p.m. today (Friday, April 5, 2019), Chief Jeff Besing was dispatched to the 200 block of E. Franklin Street where a resident had contained a brindle colored pit bull after it had injured a high school student by biting the male student on his upper left thigh.
The pit bull, along with a smaller, non-aggressive white-and-brown colored dog, were detained by the Crawford County Animal Control Officer (Denise McKinney). The pit bull will be quarantined for a period of 10 days to make sure it has been vaccinated.
The male high school student was treated and released at the Crawford Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
The pit bull's owner, identified as Jaime Moore of Palestine, was issued an ordinance citation for "Dog at Large" resulting in a dog bite to a pedestrian.
