
CARMI, Ill. - A Carmi man going about his business at a bank in Carmi found himself identified and arrested on a warrant unrelated to his banking activities.
Carmi Police reports indicate that at 8:45 a.m. yesterday, Thursday, April 4, Michael E. Castleberry, 50 of Carmi, was reported to be at Banterra Bank in Carmi. A responding officer came to the parking lot of the bank where Castleberry was located and, verifying the validity of the warrant, placed Castleberry under arrest.
The warrant is a misdemeanor Theft or Control with Intent to Deprive Owner less than $500, alleging such misconduct occurred on March 12, 2019.
Castleberry was able to post bond to secure his release, and he's set for a first appearance on the Theft charge on May 2 at 9 a.m.
