ELGIN, Ill. - Illinois State Police (ISP) officials announce the arrest of
Kimberly S. Everhart, the former Chief of Police with the Hinckley Police
Department (PD).

In February of 2019, the interim police chief at Hinckley PD contacted the
ISP requesting an investigation be conducted into the actions of former
Hinckley PD Chief of Police, Kimberly Everhart. The interim police chief
discovered a conversation which was audio recorded on a Hinckley PD
department issued cell phone, formerly issued to Everhart. A thorough
investigation ensued and ISP investigators learned Everhart illegally
audio recorded a face to face conversation in 2017, between herself and
the village manager.

On March 19, 2019, the ISP obtained an arrest warrant for one count of
Eavesdropping (Class 4 Felony) and one count of Official Misconduct (Class
3 Felony) against Everhart. Everhart turned herself in on March 19 at
the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, where she posted bond of $5,000 (10 percent applies) and was released.
