CARMI, Ill. - A Sunday afternoon traffic stop got a rural Carmi woman hemmed up on a number of meth charges, foremost among them being delivery after considerably more than user amounts were allegedly located.

Carmi Police reports show that the incident occurred at 5:33 p.m. yesterday (Sunday, March 17), when a local officer spotted a driver that he knew to be revoked.

The officer effected a stop at Cherry Street and Jessup, finding Diane Strong, 65, of a County Road 700E, Carmi, address, behind the wheel.

As a matter of course, a search was conducted of Strong's possessions, and inside her purse was located an item alleged to be a meth pipe, along with a gram of cannabis...and five baggies of suspected meth ranging in weights of .16 grams to .74 grams.

Strong was taken into custody at that point and issued the citations for Driving on a Revoked License and Possession of Cannabis, but charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Meth/Use Prohibited, and Possession of Meth with Intent to Deliver.

As of this morning (Monday, March 18), she remained behind bars at the city/county jail in Carmi.
