FAYETTE CO., Ill. - A two-vehicle crash early this morning (Tuesday, March 12) sent a driver to the hospital as well as got him charged with several counts including DUI.
Illinois State Police said the crash occurred this morning at 5:05 a.m. At that time, a blue 2007 Ford F150 being driven by Wesley J. Donaldson, 58 of Fillmore, was northbound on U.S. 51 at Payne Drive in Vandalia when it entered the southbound lane of traffic.
The F150 struck a red 2007 Peterbilt truck being driven by Randy L. Herrin, 62, of Neoga traveling southbound at the same location.
The ensuing crash resulted in enough injury to Donaldson to send him to Fayette County Hospital. Likely that was where it was learned that he was allegedly driving under the influence of something, and so he was charged with that, as well as Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Improper Lane Usage.
