CLARK CO., Ill. - A two-vehicle collision on Illinois Route 1 in Clark County claimed the life of a young Martinsville woman earlier today.
Illinois State Police out of District 12 Effingham report that the crash occurred this morning, Saturday, February 23, at 8:25 a.m.
ISP said that a 2014 Volvo truck-tractor being driven by Frederick Patterson, 56, of Indianapolis, was traveling south on Highway 1 near Ernst Road in Clark County at that time. A 2014 Chrysler passenger car being driven by Audria Truelove, 20 of Martinsville, was also traveling south on 1 near Ernst Road and came upon the truck, which had slowed in traffic due to Patterson suddenly not feeling well.
Truelove failed to reduce her speed and struck the rear of the trailer being pulled by Patterson's truck. The collision proved fatal to Truelove. A passenger in her vehicle, Rahshawn Jordan, 39 of Glen Burnie, Maryland, was apparently not injured.
There have been no citations issued in the wake of the crash.
