WAYNE CO., Ill. - A single-vehicle rollover accident with ejection sent a Fairfield woman to a regional hospital and got the driver cited yesterday.

Illinois State Police in District 19 report that the accident occurred in a rural area north of the vicinity of Sims in western Wayne yesterday, Thursday, February 21, at 2:39 p.m.

According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, Jeremy MT Ralston, 33 of Fairfield, was driving a gold 1999 Chrysler minivan westbound on Wayne County Road 900 North, 100 feet west of County Road 715 East. With him were passengers Bobby L. Powell, 27, and Dorothy A. Brinkley, 35, both also of Fairfield.

Ralston advised that he hit a dip in the roadway and swerved to the left. The van left the roadway and ramped into a corn field, overturning
several times in the process. Brinkley, the back seat passenger, was
ejected from the rear passenger side window. Both passengers were transported to a local hospital where Brinkley was later flown to regional hospital.

ISP was assisted at the crash scene by Wayne City Ambulance and the
Wayne City Fire Department. Barry’s towing removed the vehicle from
the scene at the driver’s request.

Ralston was charged failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Brinkley was charged with failure to wear a seat belt.
