WILLIAMSON CO., Ill. - A man was killed either overnight last night or into the early morning hours of this morning at a popular bar in Williamson County.
The man died of a gunshot wound inflicted by another; the alleged shooter is in custody, and currently, Williamson County (despite having the law cited to them) is refusing to identify either shooter or shootee.
However, sources have advised that there was a longstanding rivalry between the two (both described as young-ish black men but old enough to know better) and that it got out of hand last night at Redzone, where one is alleged to have shot the other.
The alleged shooter has been jailed on preliminary charges of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, in lieu of anything having to do with the death of the other man; this might mean that the man died later at the hospital, and so such a charge is very typical and further charges will be forthcoming after State's Attorney Brandon Zanotti reviews the investigative report.
When we learn more, we'll post. Be watching.
