WABASH CO., Ill. - A 20-nothing from Grayville, having gotten in trouble in Wabash County this past fall, is now headed off to Illinois Department of Corrections for her part in a meth crime.
Wabash County State's Attorney Cassandra Goldman reports that Skyler N. Johnston, 25 of Grayville, charged with a Class 3 felony Meth Possession charge dating back to October 1, 2018, was sentenced this week (on Monday, January 14, 2019) to a term of three years in IDOC.
Back on September 30, Mt. Carmel officers noticed a white Chevy Impala parked behind the PD, playing loud music. Officers went to determine what was going on; the occupants of the vehicle advised police that they were waiting on a friend who was visiting an inmate at the county jail.
Naturally, authorities checked the occupants' IDs and found that one of the pair, Seth U. Perry, 31 of Grayville, was wanted on a Failure to Appear warrant out of Wabash.
Perry was taken into custody and when authorities checked the seating areas, they located a container that held suspected meth. At that point, Johnston (the one visiting someone in jail) emerged from the jail and came back to the car. There, authorities asked her if she'd been the one driving the car and she admitted that she had been the driver. However, when authorities checked her ID, they found that her license had been suspended, so she too was taken into custody on an arresting charge of Driving While License Suspended.
While she was being checked for booking, authorities found a bag of meth on her person, so she was charged with that. That turned out to be the charge over which she was sentenced Monday.
Perry, incidentally, is trying to get it together and is seeking inpatient treatment/rehab, according to available records.
