CLAY CO., Ill. - A young man from Wisconsin and his passenger were hospitalized this afternoon after losing control of their vehicle and overturning on Dieterich Blacktop north of Sailor Springs.
Illinois State Police in District 12 worked the accident, which occurred at 12:34 p.m. today, Thursday, January 17.
ISP said that Austin M. Klein, 22, of Janesville, Wisconsin, was traveling southbound on Clay County road 1700 East (Dieterich Blacktop) approximately five miles north of Sailor Springs in Clay County when he lost control of his vehicle, a gray 2014 Ford passenger car.
Klein swerved to the right and overcorrected back to the left, striking a ditch and overturning. It came to rest on its top approximately 10 yards off the roadway to the east.
Klein and a passenger, Adam M. Klein, 21, also of Janesville, were taken by ambulance from the scene to Clay County Hospital in Flora.
Austin Klein was cited for Improper Lane Usage and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
