WHITE CO., Ill. - White County Sheriff's officials had a relatively mild weekend, given the snow and the almost-missing person case.
Most of the reports were low key in the carrying out, even if the charge associated with the first one was quite alarming: That'd be the situation with Christian M. Snyder, 44 of Grayville, who on Friday, January 11, at 9:24 a.m. turned himself in at the White County Sheriff's Office on a 2018 felony warrant for three counts of Child Pornography.
Apparently, Snyder was able to post $3,500 cash bond to secure his release.
Later that same afternoon, right before 4 p.m., another man turned himself in: John Flanagan, 36, of Fairfield, this on yet another White County warrant, but this one for a situation considerably more mundane: A 2018 traffic ticket.
Also on Friday morning, just after 10 a.m., White County deputies responded to an incident of torn-up yards courtesy a semi/tractor-trailer.
This got a deputy dispatched to 1241 North CR 800E, a rural Carmi address. When the deputy arrived, he observed a semi tractor and trailer stuck in a yard. The deputy made contact with the driver, Michael Okonji, 43, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, who advised that his GPS unit had sent him on this roadway. He said that he noticed the road was a secondary roadway, so he decided to turn around. He picked a small driveway to turn around in, driving into the yard of Ron Kingery and causing damage to the yard.
Okonji then drove into the yard of Larry Hite, causing damage to that yard. The semi became stuck in Hite's yard, and the trailer was loaded, so the whole thing couldn't move.
Les Wilson Oilfield service brought out two lard oilfield winch trucks to the scene to remove the stuck semi; both Hite and Kingery had damage they will need compensated for, according to the sheriff's department report.
