WILLIAMSON CO., Ill. - A guy whose parents cursed him with a name guaranteed to show up on a police blotter; a Harrisburg man charged with a sex crime; and the return of Devin Switzer (so soon after her last arrest) are all part of this week’s FELONY FRIDAY, so let’s get going with it!
Felonies Filed
We start with the man doomed by his name: Kuantavious A. McKinney, 28 of Johnston City, who is charged with Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer. Kuan comes up at the end of the report; keep reading to see what happened.
Then the Harrisburg man in this week's report is Scott A. Dunn, 48, who is charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse of a victim over 13 and under 18 and he was in a position of Trust over said victim. Court files don’t show what position Dunn was in over the alleged victim, but generally speaking, such a charge means that the perpetrator is something like a teacher, coach, pastor, boss, tutor, mentor, doctor, counselor, etc to the alleged victim. If we learn more, we’ll bring it to you. Be watching.
Caleb D. Mibb, 27 of Carterville, is charged with Meth Delivery between 5 and 15 grams.
Michael D. Needham, 22 of Colp, is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams and a misdemeanor charge of Possession of Hypodermic Syringe/Needles 1st offense.
Christina N. Shadowens, 27 of Johnston City, is charged with Theft/ Unauthorized Control between $500 and $10,000.
Jessica B. Hughes, 32 of Harrisburg, is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams.Merri B. Crespi, 43 of West Frankfort, is charged with Possession of an Amount of Controlled Substance Except (A)/(D).
Nijel C. Gibson, 34 of Vienna, is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine between 5 and 15 grams.
April M. Clay, 30 of Johnston City, is charged with Residential Burglary.
Tamara J. Peldo, 56 of Marion, is charged with Theft /Disposal of Merchandise under $300 with previous conviction.
And then here's the return of Devin L. Switzer, 40 of Herrin, who now has been charged with Theft less than $500/person and traffic charges Improper Turn Signal and Driving on Suspended License.
Mathew T. Miller, 33 of Johnston City, is charged with Aggravated Battery/Child under the age of 13 with Bodily Harm.
Felony Dispositions
Kyle A. Edwards, 21 of Akron, Ohio, plead not guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams and a Misdemeanor charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Codefendant Sally A. Edwards, 42 and also of Akron, plead not guilty to the same charges. Case dismissed on State’s Motion.
Stephan A. King, 41 of Marion, plead not guilty to Aggravated Domestic Battery and Domestic Battery/Other Prior; dismissed Nolle Prosequi.
Dusty Messamore, 27 of Royalton, plead guilty in 2015 to Criminal Trespass to Residence with Persons present. He received 30 months probation, fine, restitution and 16 days in jail. A month later his probation was revoked and he received 30 months probation and 90 days in jail with credit for time served 30 days. His case was terminated unsatisfied.
Debbie K. Copher, 46 of Marion, plead not guilty to a 2016 charge of Meth Manufacturing less than 15 grams. That case was dismissed on State’s Motion. She plead guilty to an added charge of Possession of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams. She received 24 months probation, 78 days in jail with credit for time served and drug treatment. Case terminated unsatisfied.
And Kuantavious appears again: McKinney plead Not Guilty to Aggravated Battery/Peace Officer and it was dismissed Nolle Prosequi by Court Action. McKinney also plead not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of Resisting, which was also dismissed Nolle Prosequi by Court Action.
