WAYNE CO.—The woman who was arrested last year for assisting her husband in the brutal beating of a Fairfield man has been busted again.
Jennifer Robertson, 35, wife of local violent crim John Robertson, was the subject of a July 23 traffic stop by Wayne County Deputy Otey. That stop resulted in formal charges of Improper Lane Usage, DUI-drugs, Possession of K2 and Drug Paraphernalia.
Mrs. Robertson is out on bond following the arrest and charges. She was part of the group beating of Reggie Shemwell last October, a beating authorities have yet to explain but locals say possibly involved drug-dealing and a deal gone bad (and other conversely say Robertson just THOUGHT he would “find what he wanted” at Shemwell’s, which he did not), and for which her husband has had charges re-filed in the wake of a colossal screwup of the case by Wayne’s prosecutor, David Williams.
Mrs. Robertson’s part in the deal (for which she was originally charged with attempted murder, so serious was the situation, and which included allegations that she kicked Shemwell in the face while he was incapacitated after a beating allegedly inflicted upon him by John Robertson) was reduced to trespassing. She was awaiting sentencing on that reduced plea…a plea which also remains unexplained by Wayne authorities, as it’s not likely she was going to turn state’s witness against her husband in the matter. The rest of her charges were dismissed earlier this year.
We’ll have more on the development of this situation, peripheral to the bizarre case of John Robertson as it proceeds through court, as we get it.
