Saline County warrant served on White County man in Carmi

CARMI, Ill. - A man from Carmi turned himself in on a Saline County warrant earlier today in White County.

William S. Mitchell, 52, of the 400 block of James Avenue in Carmi, turned himself in on the Saline County warrant very early this morning (Friday, December 14) at 2:43 a.m.

Mitchell's big "crime" at this point isn't so much the Disorderly Conduct ordinance violation he's facing in Saline, as it is the skipping-the-most-recent-hearing date, which was November 19 in Saline County Circuit Court in Carmi.

Mitchell remained behind bars at the city/county jail in Carmi as of this morning, until whatever's going on with his case gets sorted out. It might be of note, however, to point out that while an ordinance violation is generally litigated against the offender in court by the city or municipality attorney where the OV was issued, it's possible that new State's Attorney Molly Kasiar is hopping right to it and asking for warrants to be issued for those who fail to appear for a simple court date.

If that's the case, we'll bring it to you. Watch for updates.
