NEW HAVEN, Ill. - A call to the White County Sheriff's Office yesterday indicated that there might be a suspect in the theft of several hunting items from a location in the New Haven bottoms.
White County Sheriff Doug Maier reports that a call came in yesterday (Sunday, November 25) at 9:51 a.m. from Matt Duffy, who wished to report that he had had a theft from his property in the bottoms, located below the 141 in the New Haven area of White.
Duffy stated that numerous hunting items had been stolen, including a trail cam, which had quit recording on November 23.
Duffy told the responding officer that he'd caught a man and a woman on the same property Sunday about a half-hour before he'd called the sheriff's office. When the man was confronted, Duffy said, the man told him he was "supposed to be on a friend's fishing property." The name of that "friend" is possibly what was redacted from the police report.
Duffy did note, however, that the man was driving a Ford F150, blue in color, with an Indiana license plate of GRMPS2.
The responding deputy drove the New Haven bottoms attempting to locate the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. However, with the vanity plate, it won't be difficult to track down "gramps2," so look for an update if there's an arrest soon.
