CRAWFORD CO., Ill. - Crawford County Coroner Earl Deckard has issued information on the body that was found early this morning at the city park in Oblong.
Deckard said that the name of the individual has not yet been released, but advised that it was the body of a 40-year-old male, found early this morning (Monday, November 26) at the city park.
The male was pronounced deceased by the coroner's office at 1:36 a.m.
Deckard advised that the male was the subject of a search by law enforcement authorities in the hours leading up to the discovery of the body. The male, Deckard said, had been reported missing prior to the search.
Deckard declined to release the name, as there are several family members who have still not been notified of the death; as well, he advised that he could not report the reasons the male had been reported missing.
The autopsy on the body was underway at the morgue in Terre Haute, Indiana, this afternoon. Results may not be immediately available, but Deckard said that he may have more information in the coming days about the entire matter, so be watching for updates.
