WILLIAMSON CO., Ill. - The fundraiser Friday held to benefit the baby of a local firefighter in Williamson County went off without a hitch, and participants had a blast in the process.
The benefit, a basketball game, happened Friday, November 9, to benefit the Bullard family as featured at this link.
Members of the Williamson County Fire Protection barely overtook area police officers, winning by one point. Firemen had a 10 point lead at half time with a score of 29 to 19 and police caught up. Final score: 53 to 52.
Around $300 was raised for the Bullard family to help with gas and other expenses as they travel back and forth to St. Louis for baby Blake.
Event organizer Angelo Hightower of the Carterville Police Department Department says he would like to have one every year to raise funds for something charitable.
