MARION CO., Ill. - Two individuals from Clay County encountered ice last night on a Marion County stretch of Interstate 57, causing a vehicle overturn, according to Illinois State Police.
ISP troopers working the wreck report that it happened last night (Friday, November 9) at 9:50 p.m.
Preliminary investigative information shows that a 2005 green Chevrolet box truck being driven by Brittany L. McKnelly, 36 of Louisville in Clay County, was traveling north on Interstate 57 at milepost 119 when McKnelly lost control on ice while driving over a bridge.
The vehicle slid off into the median, then overturned onto its driver's side, where it came to rest.
A passenger in the vehicle, Charmen L. Dawkins, 46, of Clay City, was transported to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
No citations were issued.
