JASPER CO., Ill. - Three drivers from various communities across Jasper and Effingham counties were sent to a hospital for treatment after a multi-vehicle crash in Jasper County last night, apparently caused by someone not paying attention to the road...a situation far too common these days, and rarely explained by authorities.

Illinois State Police in District 12 Effingham report that the wreck occurred yesterday (Wednesday, November 7) at 6:22 p.m.

Preliminary investigative details indicate that a white 1995 Toyota passenger car being driven by Ivan K. Falconer, 29, of Dieterich in Effingham County, was traveling west on Illinois Highway 33, near Jasper County Road 200th Street, when it veered into the eastbound lane of 33.

At that time, a silver 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck being driven by Zachary P. Raney, 28, of Newton in Jasper County, was traveling in the eastbound lane of 33 at that location and was struck by Falconer's Toyota in an angle to side-swipe type collision.

A blue 2012 Chrysler minivan being driven by Mariah L. Boldrey, 24, of Ste. Marie in Jasper County, was traveling behind Raney on the eastbound lane of 33, and was forced to take evasive action by driving into the ditch on the south side of 33 to avoid striking the other two vehicles involved.

The Toyota came to rest in the roadway, while both the Chevy pickup and the minivan came to rest in the ditch on the south side of 33.

All three drivers, Falconer, Raney, and Boldrey, were transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's in Effingham, for treatment.

Falconer was cited for Improper Lane Usage, Reckless Driving, Reckless Conduct, Aggravated Battery (that one wasn't explained by ISP, either), Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash, and No Insurance.
