FLORA: Police chief provides end-of-month activity report, October 2018

FLORA, Ill. - Chief John Nicholson at the Flora Police Department has submitted interesting info for his department's activity, end of October, 2018...so let's get to it!

On October 20 at 5:42 p.m., a traffic crash was worked at the intersection of N. Sycamore and E. 7th St. in Flora. A 17-year-old female of Flora struck the vehicle driven by Lester Hutchens of Flora in the driver door and back passenger door. After she struck Hutchens' vehicle, she continued to travel approximately 20 feet southeast of the intersection and struck a traffic sign and hit a fire hydrant. No injuries were reported and no citations issued.

On Oct. 22 at 7:27 p.m., five individuals were busted: Elijah E. McKnelly, Brian K. Louis-Jacques and Justin A. Schofield, all of Flora, were all arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine in the 500 block of East North Ave in Flora; all were transferred into the custody of the Clay County Sheriff's Department. On that same day at 7:29 p.m., Dayne A. Harrison of Cisne was arrested for Possession of a Firearm by a Felon in the 800 block of Lamson Street. Harrison was transferred into the custody of the Clay County Sheriff's Department. At the same time (7:29 p.m.), Shawn Webb of Flora was arrested for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine and Obstructing Justice in the 800 block of Lamson Street. Webb, too, was transferred into the custody of the Clay County Sheriff's Department.

On Oct. 29 at 11:15 a.m., Mark J. Kocher of Dundas in Richland County was arrested on a Richland County warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine. Kocher was unable to post bond and was transferred to the custody of Richland County Sheriff's Department.

On Oct. 25 at 3:14 p.m., Flora police worked a traffic crash at E. North Ave. and Foster St. in Flora. Brian Becker of Salem was issued a citation for Failure to Reduce Speed after striking Janet Thompson’s vehicle. Thompson was transported to the Clay County Hospital.

On Oct. 27 at 10:26 a.m., a 16-year-old female of Fairfield was a victim of a hit-and-run at N. Main St. and Given Dr. in Flora. No injuries were reported.

On Oct. 29 at 8:28 p.m., Tharin L. Harris of Louisville was issued traffic citation for Failure to Use Headlights when required, Disobeying a Stop Sign and Improper Lane Usage in the 100 block of North Elm St., Flora.

On Oct. 30 at 5:58 a.m., Elizabeth Levitt of Flora was issued traffic citations of Improper Lane Usage and Failure to Report an Accident in the 500 block of E. 4th St.

Also on the 30th at 7:00 a.m., Jayda Patrick of Flora was issued a local ordinance violation for Dog Running at Large in the 1000 block of W. 6th St.

And lastly on the 30th, at 11:47 p.m., Nathan R. Block of Cisne was issued local ordinance violations for Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in the 8000 block of Hwy 50, Flora.

Then on Oct. 31 at 3:21 p.m., Dakota Cartright of Flora was issued a local ordinance violation for Excessive Acceleration.
