WHITE CO., Ill. - White County deputies had kind of a weird thing occur Tuesday when a report came in of two guys walking in the vicinity of the defunct New Harmony bridge, one of them sporting blood on his forehead.
The call came in at 10:19 a.m. Tuesday (October 30) about two male subjects walking in the rural area around the New Harmony Bridge. The subject advised that he was giving them a ride to Crossville, and said one of the subjects had blood on his forehead.
Sheriff Maier himself met the caller at the four-way in Crossville; the caller advised that the two subjects had jumped out of the vehicle a block earlier.
Sgt. Byrd Huber, Sgt. Craig Poole and Maier then began searching for the two subjects.
Maier observed a male subject walking along Illinois Route 1 and Second Street in Crossville. He recognized the man as Donald Terrell, who happened to have an active warrant for Unlawful Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
Maier approached Terrell and advised him of the warrant, placing him under arrest.
Maier asked Terrell if he had just been given a ride to Crossville and Terrell advised that he had, stating that he and another subject had been left out in the county. Terrell had a small cut on his forehead; he advised that this was from working on something the day before, and a bolt had hit him in the head.
Terrell was transported to the White County Jail in Carmi, where he remained as of this weekend.
