CARMI, Ill. - Smashing pumpkins (the activity, not the mediocre band from a couple of decades ago) is as dumb as it sounds...but that's what was reported yesterday (October 31) to have happened at a restaurant on the 200 block of South Church Street in Carmi.
According to provided police reports, Cindy L. Ridenour called city police at 11:03 a.m.yesterday, advising that several of her decorative pumpkins were smashed at Family Traditions, a restaurant in town, on the night of the 30th. Reports indicate that the damage estimate on the pumpkins was $100.
Also on Wednesday, one Samuel P. Ellis, 46 of West Sycamore in Carmi, was the subject of a traffic stop on outer Sycamore at around 2:45 p.m. He was cited for Driving While License Suspended.
Ellis was able to post the requisite $150 cash (along with White County's $20 booking fee) as bond to secure his release.
In other police activity from this week, on Tuesday (Oct. 29), a report was made that a student at Carmi-White County High School had had a white slip along with cash stolen from a neck lanyard inside the girls' locker room on October 26 before lunch.
